Talk on reconstructive surgery at ICIRO – Course highlights

We recently delivered a talk on reconstructive surgery as part of the “V Experto Universitario en Periodoncia, Cirurxía e Implantoloxía Oral” (5th University Expert on Periodontics, Surgery, and Oral Implantology), organized by ICIRO in La Coruña. This weekend module focused on bone and soft tissue reconstruction, and we had the pleasure of sharing the experience with our colleagues Dr. Jose Manuel Cruz Valiño and Dr. Vicente Seoane Mato, who also took part in the academic sessions. During the event, we presented key concepts and step-by-step protocols related to advanced bone grafting, vestibuloplasties, and soft tissue handling. The talk on reconstructive surgery was complemented by practical sessions using animal models, where participants had the chance to perform: Free gingival grafts Vestibuloplasties Implant placement in simulated conditions These hands-on exercises allowed students to apply surgical principles immediately after the theoretical sessions, making the learning process dynamic and clinically relevant. We are very grateful to José Manuel and Vicente for their support and academic collaboration, as well as to the students for their enthusiasm and dedication throughout the weekend. Special thanks also to GT-Medical for providing the equipment and materials needed for the practical component. 📎 For more academic collaborations and surgical training courses, visit our academy page to see upcoming events. Also you can check other clinical cases. Below you’ll find some photos from the event. We hope to continue contributing to surgical education and clinical excellence through future courses like this one.
