Post-Extraction Implant Connective Tissue Graft: Follow-Up

Five weeks ago, we shared a case involving a post-extraction implant connective tissue graft, placed in the anterior maxilla. The treatment goal was to preserve the volume and aesthetics of the vestibular tissues after immediate implant placement.
The patient presented with a fractured lateral incisor requiring extraction. We placed a post-extraction implant immediately and reinforced the soft tissue by inserting connective tissue through a supraperiosteal tunnel. This technique helps minimize the risk of vestibular collapse, especially in high aesthetic areas.
Technique Overview and Biological Advantages
Tunnel access allowed for precise placement of the connective tissue graft without disrupting the marginal gingiva. The graft was positioned to reinforce the buccal soft tissue volume, which is particularly critical in the anterior zone.
This approach supports long-term stability of the peri-implant tissue and helps maintain natural contours. Moreover, using the patient’s own tissue improves integration and minimizes the need for secondary corrections.
Progress at 7 Days and 4 Weeks
We are now sharing follow-up images taken at 7 days and 4 weeks post-surgery. The photographs show progressive healing, thickening of the mucosa, and excellent tissue adaptation around the implant.
This case reinforces the importance of combining post-extraction implant connective tissue graft techniques when aesthetics and stability are essential.
