A 50-year-old male ex-smoker came to us, currently undergoing Eutirox treatment for hyperthyroidism and requesting a fixed prosthesis.
Upon examination, we observed that after years of edentulism, the quantity of adhered gum had been diminishing along with the buccal bone, important for protecting the neck of the implant from impacted food.
We opted to place two implants with a Kazanjian vestibuloplasty access which would create buccal bone as well as adhered gum around the implant.
- Previous situation, high mucogingival line
- Absence of buccal bone
- Vestibuloplasty access, observing the periosteum
- Incision on the periosteum
- Detaching the periosteum
- Placement of two implants
- Leaving implants 1mm submerged
- Sutures
- Situation after one week
- Situation after one month; there is now adhered gum and buccal bone
